At 5am this morning the sunrise was the color of a hot flame. The reflection in the lake created a picture of unbelievable

brightness. The small white cloud stretched across the top of the colors and started to expand.

The red mist started to rise and as I watched the scene moving, floating towards the sun; the day was beginning.

At 6am the day was grey with promise of rain; still and grey.

The birds came to the feeders as the rain started to fall. The much needed rain fell lightly on the dry ground, and the new spring growth of leaves and bushes.

It was a steady rain falling all day to nourish the very dry earth. There was no wind, no howling of the usual sound of horns, just a soft tapping as the rain fell on the fireplace and the picnic table. The trees stood motionless and the new bushes were silent as the day.

The goldfinch and chickadees came to the wet feeders for food, flying in and back to the protection of the trees. They came and colored this grey day.

Now this next morning it is still raining and I cannot see the sunrise; but there are two young deer playing at the edge of the lake.
