Polymnia Choral Society, a dynamic, versatile musical group, invites experienced singers of any age, from high school to senior citizens, to join the chorale for the 2015–2016 season. Members come from Melrose, Malden, Stoneham, Wakefield, Danvers, and other towns in the area to raise their voices in song at Polymnia rehearsals on Tuesday nights 7:00–9:30 at the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church, 355 Franklin Street, Melrose.
“Polymnia Choral Society is a place where people can come and experience singing, music, and camaraderie. The group has great fun while learning great music. Come and join us!” says Director Murray Kidd, adding that open rehearsals will be held on September 8, 15, and 22.
The first concert of the season will feature serious choral works from the musical literature of various faiths in keeping with the solemnity of the season and secular pieces to celebrate the joy.

The audience will be invited to join in a traditional carol sing to end the concert. Performances will be Saturday, December 5 at 7:30 pm at St. Mary’s Church, 46 Myrtle Street, Melrose, and Sunday, December 6, at 3:00 pm at First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Wakefield.
Director Kidd has selected Annalies by British composer James Whitbourn for mixed chorus, soprano soloist, piano trio, and clarinet. Annalies (pr: annalees) is a full-length choral piece based on The Diary of Anne Frank. This performance will be held on Saturday, March 12, 7:30 at St. Mary’s Church,

The Pops concert on Saturday, June 4 at 7:30 at Memorial Hall, 590 Main Street, Melrose, will feature a full-length concert version of Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Polymnia members will perform at the Melrose Victorian Fair on September 13 and will hold its 3rd Annual Cabaret on October 17. Come, watch, and enjoy!
