
A total of 43 percent of SAT takers in 2012 scored below 1550, what the College Board considers a strong indicator of the likelihood of getting a B- average the first year of school and completing their studies, according to a new report.
"The SAT Report on College Career and Readiness" reveals that students who met the benchmark were more likely to have completed a core curriculum in high school and to have parents with a four-year college degree.
The report notes that students who score below the benchmark can still succeed in college because "college readiness depends on a number of factors."

The College Board concludes that the results show a "need for common standards that will enable all students to develop the core competencies critical to college and career success."
