OMG!! The sky’s falling. We’re out of toothpaste. The furnace isn’t working. The TV won’t go on. The paper wasn’t delivered. We wake up every morning taking for granted that life will go on uninterrupted but if something goes wrong, we panic. We don’t count our blessings for the 99% of the time things go right, giving us constant peace of mind, because we expect it. When something goes wrong , some people, like my son, blame Murphy?. Murphy's Law, that says “If something can go wrong, it will, at the “worst” time”. My response to my son is “O’Brian’s” Law… I made it up!! “Have a great day today and accept whatever comes unexpectedly tomorrow”…A more appropriate guide may be “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference…or…if you prefer “God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do like and the eyesight to tell the difference”. Soo the next time you have a “catastrophe”, consider yourself lucky and that things can be a lot worse. Just look around you or read the papers or watch TV!!!
