Do you “look” at the things that you buy at the grocery store before buying? A prior “thoughts” talked about the lessor contents of products (that you don’t always notice) rather than a price increase (that you DO notice), like the old 16-ounce pound of coffee that is now 13 ounces and the 64-ounce half gallon of ice cream now 48 ounces. Paper products seem to have the same “check carefully” requirement. Paper towels can be bought at half the size of the standard size that is acceptable for 90% of uses and lasts twice as long before needing a new roll, generally only used to wipe up spills. Kleenex usually sells for the same price with several different counts in the package, the fewer counts having only a softer feel. Toilet paper counts vary up to 1000 sheets, the lower numbers being only softer and thicker. Paper or plastic? Both can be reused to help the environment, plastic bags in waste baskets for trash day and paper bags for newspapers, magazines, etc. for recycling. Finally, to save even more money, always buy the store brand rather than the name brand.
