Thoughts while shaving

by Jim Tierney

Are you ever concerned about your car breaking down and being stranded in the middle of nowhere? Back in the day you had a public telephone on almost every street corner so you can make a call and get help. Most people have cell phones today, many elders don’t, but if your cell phone dies on you what do you do? You DO have a few options, depending on where you are. You can walk to the nearest house and ring the bell and maybe several bells because most people aren’t home or they don’t answer. You can flag down a car who may speed away from you, thinking you may be a serial killer. If you ARE in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of the night, you may have no choice but to walk and walk until you a find a house. When you ring a bell in the middle of the night, help is on the way because the homeowner, afraid of who you are, called the police. It makes you think more about keeping your car in shape and replacing weak cell phone batteries…and to tell your elders to get a cellphone.
