Thoughts while shaving

by Jim Tierney

Don’t you sometimes wonder what all the fuss is about when people complain because they are singled out at airports and patted down for weapons, etc. It is usually a random check and the luck of the draw (unluck?) and sometimes mistakes are made because the checkers also check obvious celebrities, not knowing who Lady Gaga or Joe Biden is. In this day and age, you would think people would be more tolerant of this and accept the inconvenience because it could mean their life may be saved. Many people think they are profiled and maybe they are in some instances, especially if the majority of terrorists are from their country. I am Irish and if the majority of terrorists were Irish, I would welcome always being vetted or singled out for a pat down if one of the Irish terrorists were caught and I helped save hundreds of lives, including mine, averting a plane crash. So lighten up people, “the life you save may be your own."
