I joke about not buying green bananas anymore, for obvious reasons. I am 90 years old and who knows if I will die before the bananas ripen. I’d hate to see nice bananas go to waste. The same goes for clothes. Whenever my birthday or Christmas approaches, I tell the family “NO MORE CLOTHES”. I have enough clothes to last me for the rest of my short life. I’ve been saying this for several years now and my wife says it’s time for a new one when she sees a sweater, pants, etc, starting to fray. Isn’t that the style today with the young people who BUY jeans with holes in them? I have a closet full of clothes but I wear the same clothes all the time, like most men I think. When my clothes get too raggedy, I DO go to the closet for something “new”, rather than BUY something new. Fortunately, my family DOES respect my wishes and gives me restaurant and hotel gift certificates that my wife and I use ASAP. Heaven forbid I die with outstanding gift certificates.
