Turn Down That Whole Foods Truck!, Drunk Bike Riders: Melrose Police Log

Here are some of the more notable entries from last weekend's Melrose Police log.

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Police log offers a peek into some of the (allegedly) crime-y parts of the city. It's important to remember that an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The incidents below are based off entires between Mon., Sept. 4 and Tues., Sept. 5. (Remember to keep up on local happenings by subscribing to Melrose Patch for free!)

Monday, Sept. 4

2:37 a.m. - Caller said someone was trying to break into his neighbor's car on Laurel St. When confronted the person took off running on Gooch St toward Grove St. Police could not find anyone in the area.

7:17 a.m. - A caller complained that the delivery truck at Whole Food was making too much noise and that it shouldn't be delivering until 9 a.m. Police talked to manager, who agreed to shut it down until 9.

7:51 a.m. - Someone else complaining of Whole Foods truck, but no trucks were running at this point, police said.

11:34 a.m. - Caller on Ledge St. says the sewer is backing up into home. DPW was notified.

10:27 p.m. - Someone on Franklin St. said she was attacked by a Great Dane while walking her dog.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

1:22 p.m. - A caller said a dog was in a motor vehicle behind Brueggers Bagels.

1:52 p.m. - A caller called to tell police a vehicle was parked too close to the intersection of West Wyoming and Trenton. Police disagreed.

2:19 p.m. - A caller said two people were swimming in Ell Pond. Police spoke with them.

3:11 p.m. - A tree on Circuit St. took some wires down. DPW and Verizon were notified.

3:28 p.m. - The Fire Department said they were investigating a report of someone passed out in front of City Hall. Police said the man was OK, just waiting for the bus.

4:30 p.m. - There was a report of two men on a neighbor's porch on Pleasant St. The folks were found to be salesman.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

4:59 a.m. - Police received a walk-in report of two males walking near Emerson and Main threatening people with a large branch.

8:01 a.m. - A burglary report from Laurel St. of someone breaking into a car during the night and stealing a laptop.

8:21 a.m. - Police flagged down by someone who said vehicle had also been entered on Laurel St. overnight.

Thursday, Sept. 7

5:12 a.m. - A caller reported a "homeless man" in the Bank of America ATM on Main. No threats were made or crimes committed, but the caller called police a second time, saying he or she was feeling threatened. Police arrived and moved the homeless person along.

1:53 p.m. - Police received walk-in report of motor vehicle breaking and entering at Windsor Communities.

4:28 p.m. - Kids were ringing the doorbell at a spot on Old Brook Circle. Police arrived and spoke with kids, parents.

6:02 p.m. - Caller reports a suspicious male riding a bike, drinking beer, and looking in cars. Police could not locate beer-drinking bike rider.

6:06 p.m. - A caller reported she saw a dog off-leash walking around Grove St. neighborhood - the same dog that had bitten her before.

8:12 p.m. - Caller reports a tree fell on his windshield while he was driving on Vinton St. at Melrose St.

9:08 p.m. - A caller reports a man on a bike under the influence on Howard St. The person's sister was called, and took the man home.
