Vote NO on the override

There is a sucker born every minute

Approximately 35 years ago, the citizens of Massachusetts passed proposition 2 ½ to curb city spending. Before prop 2 ½ there was no accountability in city finances. It is the responsibility of our city officials to govern within that guideline. If our present administration cannot adhere to the rules, then we should replace them with other officials

The city functions well now, so why do we need to change? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” In particular, many published articles have shown that the city teachers are more than fairly paid. Some will always leave for another position with more money and I wish them well. Melrose will simply replace them with young aggressive teachers who will do an excellent job.

If the override fails, there will be token cutbacks in city services which will be used to prepare us for the next override vote in about 2 years.

If the override passes, it will give credence to quotations from 2 famous Americans.

Vote NO on the REAL ESTATE TAX OVERRIDE!!! Let's see which services are REALLY eliminated. I'll believe it if I see it!!!
