The Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT), through the MA250 campaign, announced the state’s participation in “Sharing the Spirit of America,” an initiative inviting cities and towns across Massachusetts to host local readings and community events as part of a synchronized national moment at 6 pm ET on July 8, 2026.
As the birthplace of the American Revolution and the site of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, Massachusetts is uniquely positioned to join this national moment.
The “Sharing the Spirit of America” initiative is led by America250 Commission partners and represents a coordinated national effort to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the first public readings of the Declaration.
