Milford Schools Canceled For A Second Day, Parking Rules Remain In Place

Parts of Milford have seen up to 17 inches of snowfall.

MILFORD, MA — A major blizzard hit Massachusetts, and some cities and towns in Central Massachusetts saw more than a foot of snow.

Parts of Milford have seen up to 17 inches of snowfall, as of Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. A state of emergency remains in effect across multiple counties in the state, and Milford took precautions ahead of the storm, including closing schools and public buildings.

Parking Ban

The town is asking residents to avoid on-street parking, as part of a winter parking ban that went into effect on Friday. Milford said it will remain in effect until an announcement of an end is made.

All vehicles parked on-street will be ticketed and towed, according to the town. For residents without off-street parking, municipal parking is available at the Jefferson Street, Fayette Street, and Pond Street lots.

School Closures

All public schools in Milford will be closed for a second day on Tuesday, Milford Public Schools announced on Monday. All after-school and evening activities are also canceled.

Warming Center

A community warming center is also open in Milford for residents to stay warm throughout the freezing temperatures.

The warming center at St. Mary's of Assumption at 17 Winter St. opened on Sunday at 6 p.m. and will be open until Tuesday at 7 a.m. The church partnered with Pathway to a Better Life to run the warming center.
