MILFORD, MA — No, it's not too early to start thinking about Christmas.

Plans are already underway to hold a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Milford this year. The town skipped the recent annual event in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Citizens for Milford is bringing the event back this year for its sixth annual incarnation. The event will be held in Draper Memorial Park on Dec. 3.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. that day, residents can gather to share cookies and hot chocolate. There will also be carols by the Greater Milford Community Chorus and a visit from Santa Claus. The event will culminate in the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m.

"The ceremony provides a wonderful opportunity for Milford families and neighbors to gather, even for a short while, as a community to celebrate the peace and joy of the season," organizers Rosemary Trettel and Kim Smith of Citizens for Milford said in a news release.
