Estimate for Dam Repairs Jump by 600 Percent
The increase has the selectmen looking for a second opinion.

A nearly 600 percent increase in a cost estimate for the Louisa Lake dam has the selectmen looking for a second opinion.
The board voted to have a peer review of work by consulting company GZA according to the Milford Daily News. The cost estimate for the work on the dam increased from $130,000 to $598,000. Weston & Sampson, a consulting service, will look at the dam and vet the report for $3,500.
The dam was labeled a significant safety hazard in 2012 with the state giving Milford a Fiscal Year 2016 deadline. After GZA lobbied the state to changing the labeling from poor to fair, the deadline was pushed three years.
