How Much Are Worcester Public School Teachers Paid?
The Boston Business Journal released its annual list based on the average teacher salary in each community.

WORCESTER, MA - The best-paid teachers in Massachusetts make north of $100,000 a year, at least in the top-paid district.
Concord-Carlisle school teachers average the highest salaries in Massachusetts, according to the Boston Business Journal, which released a full list of average annual salaries of public educators in each community, based on data from the Department of Early and Secondary Education.

According to the study, the average salary of public school teachers in Worcester last year was $78,256, which is somewhat higher than the statewide average of $74,737. In Southern Worcester, however, the average is $72,651.
The Business Journal included all 317 school districts that reported data to the state. Benefits such as summers off and pensions, negotiated between individual school districts and unions, were not included in the data.

Average wages were determined by dividing each district's total salaries and stipends by the number of full-time teachers employed in 2015. According to the Business Journal, there were about 1,828 paid teachers on staff in Worcester last year, and 107 in Southern Worcester.
