IMAGE GALLERY: Remembering Darbo's

Dozens of former patrons of the popular restaurant, which closed in 1987, gathered last weekend to reminisce.

The included photos were taken Saturday, Feb. 19, at Liz's Diamond Bar & Grille in Hopedale, where a reunion was held of former Darbo's Restaurant customers, employees, musicians and artists.

Organizers of the event described Darbo's, which opened in Milford 30 years ago and closed in 1987, as "one of the most interesting and unique architectural buildings and restaurants in Milford history."

"The restaurant attracted many tourists and sightseers, as it was built partially underground at the East Main Street site where is now located," said Charles Laquidara, whose brother, Pat, owned the restaurant. "It served homemade Italian fare and featured many weekend guest celebrities, including Robin Young, Matt Siegel, Barry Nolan, Natalie Jacobson, Bob Lobell and Susan Wornick."
