This past Sunday, Bradley and a few other teammates competed at the boys’ swimming and diving Division-II State Championships. Bradley dominated the 200 and 500 yard freestyle, winning both events with times of 1:43.13 and 4:36.36. Also, Bradley competed with senior Timmy Doyle, junior Vinny Sabo and sophomore John Fitzgerald to break a 35-year-old record in the 200 yard freestyle medley with a time of 1:34.28. He later teamed up with Sabo, Doyle and Derryk Reccia to snap another record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.

Bradley has snapped all individual records at and is looking forward to competing at the Nationals in August and hopefully qualifying for the Olympics in 2012.

What college or professional athlete(s) inspires you and why?

Michael Phelps because he has an incredible story of success with his eight gold medals and his records both nationally, world-wide and from every age group. You can track Michael Phelps’ name through swimming and his incredibly fast times.

Another athlete who has inspired me is Nick D’Innocenzo. He graduated in 2009 and he has four of the Massachusetts States records. He was on my team before he left for the University of Texas where he’s currently a sophomore and he’s been a real inspiration to me too. We were on Magnus Aquatic Group and we swam in relays together and he was always just there winning everything. I was young at the time and it was really cool to swim with him.

What is your most memorable experience as an athlete so far?

My most memorable experience as a swimmer was definitely when I broke four minutes in the 400 IM this past December. I made the summer Nationals qualifying standards, which is the highest level of meet before the Olympic Trials. You can only qualify for the Olympic Trials every four years, so it’s the biggest meet of the year.

What are your plans for the future athletically?

I want to go to a top Division-I swimming school, such as the University of Texas, where Nick goes, which is the best in the country currently [swimming-wise], but other great schools are: the University of Florida, the University of Arizona and the University of Michigan. Also, I want to qualify for the Olympic Trials this summer. If you get first or second at the Olympic Trials you get to go to the Olympics.
