MILFORD, MA — The Milford Board of Selectmen on Friday approved an emergency order to close the parking lot at Louisa Lake over crowding issues — seen as a possible public health hazard amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The order says that no pedestrians or vehicles can use the lot as long as the local coronavirus state of emergency is in effect.

Louisa Lake Park is a major intersection for the Upper Charles River Trail, which will remain open.

The lot at Louisa Lake was one of the few parks facilities still open during coronavirus. Last month, the town closed all parks and fields, and all school facilities, including the high school track. The Milford Senior Center, library, Town Hall, and the animal control department are also closed.

As of the last update on April 29, Milford had 316 confirmed coronavirus cases. New figures will be released Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health.
