Milford Man Charged With OUI After Driving Into Police Car
The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Monday.
MILFORD, MA — A man in Milford has been charged with operating under the influence after police said he was driving erratically and crashed into a police car around 9 p.m. on Monday night.
Officers were responding to reports of a gray Ford Edge driving erratically and nearly colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of Water and Main Streets. While on the way, officers also received a report that the driver exited his SUV and urinated in the road on Water Street, according to the Milford Police Department.
Police said they saw the vehicle stopped across the center line in the middle of the road, and as the police car came to a stop, the driver accelerated, colliding with the front driver's side of the police officer's car. The driver was later identified as 35-year-old Edgar Lumbi Cacuango of Milford.

After the crash, the driver parked the car and climbed into the passenger seat in front of the officer. When opening the vehicle to remove the driver, police said officers saw empty Modelo beer cans and smelled a strong odor of alcohol.
Following an investigation, Lumbi Cacuango was arrested on suspicion of operating under the influence. He was brought back to the Milford Police Department, where he took a breathalyzer test. His result was greater than twice the legal limit, police said.

Lumbi Cacuango was released on bail and charged with OUI liquor .08 percent or above, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and open container.
“Our officers place themselves in harm’s way every day to keep our community safe,” said Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino. “This person showed negligence and zero care for our first responders or others on the roadway.”
