MILFORD, MA — A local nonprofit is continuing its long-standing mission to support U.S. service members stationed overseas, one care package at a time.

Thanks To Yanks, a community-based organization dedicated to honoring and assisting those currently serving in the military, is once again sending a taste of home to troops deployed abroad. The organization's founder and president, Michael Shain, helped coordinate the shipment of Girl Scout cookies to active-duty service members stationed overseas.

"A package from home, especially Girl Scout Cookies, reminds those who serve they are appreciated and not forgotten," Shain told Patch.

Last month, the nonprofit partnered with a local bank to host a free magic show for the children and grandchildren of those currently in uniform. And in the fall, Thanks To Yanks collected items for homeless veterans and veterans in need as part of the Imperial Hope for Heroes Campaign.
