New Pizza Spot In Milford Can Now Serve Alcohol

Classic Pizza opened in the former home of Pizza Chef earlier this year.

MILFORD, MA — A new pizzeria in Milford will now serve alcohol.

Classic Pizza, which opened at the former Pizza Chef location in February, will be allowed to serve beer, wine and liquor alongside food after the business's owners appeared before the Select Board on Monday.

Business owners and a legal representative requested a Common Victualler Wine and Malt with Cordials License, which authorizes establishments to add cordials to a standard wine-and-malt license.

The pizza shop at 179 Main St., which has already received high praise, is a family-style restaurant serving pizzas, grinders, and some Brazilian-style dishes, the business's legal representative said during Monday's meeting. Classic Pizza also serves seafood platters, salads and pasta.

During the meeting, the eatery was described as a "family-style restaurant that emphasizes good value and good quality."

This is Classic Pizza's second location, with another open at 72 Hosmer St. in Marlborough since 1995. During a February Select Board meeting, owner Kosta Bregu had expressed interest in serving beer and wine at the Milford location.

Bregu told the Select Board that the restaurant has been operating under an alcohol license in Marlborough for four years.

The Select Board unanimously approved the license for the business on Main Street. Chair Tom O'Loughlin added that it has been "off to a great start in town."
