Milford Youth Center's Dance Room Near Completion

The 972 square foot room will be used for multiple functions in the center including dance, yoga and movie viewings.

MILFORD, MA — Milford Youth Center's long awaited multipurpose room is nearing the end of it's renovation, with some fresh coats of paint being added to the walls. The room has the potential to be a dance, yoga or movie viewing room, among other ideas by the center. The town approved a $46,600 contractor bid for the project last month.

The room is located in the basement of the youth center, a portion of the building that was left untouched during a round of renovations in 2015. While a huge chunk of the room's renovations are covered by the Greater Milford Community Health Network, the center has found ways to keep costs down thanks to volunteers and business donations.

Consigli Construction donated the dance floor, Lumber Liquidators offered discount flooring and Benjamin Moore donated paint and painters to get the job done.

The center also set up fundraiser to push the project forward, including several telethons. The telethons were done in conjunction with Milford TV. The first two telethons raised $15,000 and a third is planned for September 14.

The space is 972 square feet and the bid for the project went to E5 Builders LLC. The Leominster based company came in with the lowest bid of $46,600. Of the three bids, the highest was $130,500.
