PHOTOS: Fancy Falcons Fly Through Milford
After Patch published a piece about wild animals spotted in town, residents flooded the mailbox with photos.

MILFORD, MA — Earlier this week, Patch posted an article detailing tips on how to keep pets safe from wildlife after multiple fishers and wild birds were spotted in Milford. Residents heeded our call for photos (from a safe distance) and flooded the mailbox with falcon and hawk photos. No fisher photos yet, but they're notoriously shy so, we understand.
Several residents have complained about hawks and wild birds, but Milford Animal Control Officer Rochelle Thomson said she's heard more complaints about coyotes. Either way, both are predators who prey on small animals, making dogs, cats and rabbits easy food.
To keep pets safe and wildlife out of your yard, Thomson said it's best to keep bird feeder areas clean so that you eliminate the food source.

One resident who submitted a photo to Patch said he found what looked like either a falcon or hawk perched on his bird feeder. North Milford resident Bob McRae said he's used to seeing wildlife hanging around the yard. "We have a stream out back which attracts all sorts of wildlife from deer, coyotes, turkey, fisher cats," he said.
