Police Log: Suspicious Tank Reported in Shaws’ Parking Lot

Thursday, April 3

At 8:36 a.m., a woman entered the Milford Police Department to report that a hit-and-run accident occurred on Exchange Street Tuesday.

At 8:55 a.m., a caller reported to police that a propane tank locked to a pole was seen in the parking lot of Shaw's on Prospect Street. Police investigated and determined that the grocery store's staff was aware of the tank and it belonged to a contractor who was working for the store.

At 9:35 a.m., police responded to a three-car accident in the area of the Meineke Car Care Center on Beaver Street. No injuries were reported, and two vehicles were towed from the scene.

At 4:31 p.m., police responded to the area of Purchase Street and Ivy Lane on a report of a two-car accident with no injuries reported. Both vehicles were pulled to the side of the road.

At 9:42 p.m., a caller reported that a suspicious-looking car was parked in her driveway and that someone had walked into the house. Two female teens were reportedly in the home and hiding quietly. Police said that after checking the home was secure and the teens were nervous.

At 10:55 p.m., a clerk at 7-Eleven on Main Street reported counterfeit currency was used at the store. Police obtained video footage of the suspect and the matter is under investigation.
