Ariana Launie Moves a Step Closer

MIAA South Girls Individual Tennis Tournament

Hingham, Mass, May 21, 2011 -Today, at the Cronin Courts in Hingham, Milton senior Ariana Launie moved a little closer to her goal to play for a state singles title.

After last weekend’s second day of competition was cancelled due to rain the MIAA South Girls Individual Tennis Tournament resumed today. The courts were cleared, but the day was still a little mirky as the clouds shifted back and forth with the elusive sun.

Launie’s scheduled match was against Emma Prinos of Foxboro. A loss to Prinos would mean the end of Launie’s journey, but she was on her game as she would win in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

Launie was next scheduled to play against Darci Vierra of Nowell to determine who would move on to Old Rochester High School for the finals of the tournament. Vierra would withdraw from further competition due to an injury she sustained in her earlier match against Alex Hadlock of Framingham. Launie would win the match by default clearing her way to Old Rochester High tomorrow at 10am. Her opponent is unnamed at this time.
