On October 28, the Milton Wildcats football team and the Brookline Warriors played at Brooks Field.
The Milton Wildcats continue to struggle and looking for that right combination that will secure them their first win of the season. It was looking good for the Wildcats (0-8) at the half taking 13-7 lead against the Brookline Warriors (2-6).
Liam Collins got the team off on the right foot in the first quarter throwing a 41-yard TD to Terry Walsh. Then in the second quarter, with the score 7-7, Matt Lezama showed why he is one of the fastest running backs in the league with a 73 yard TD run. Lezama broke to the outside and outran the Warriors defense. Even Nick Scott, Brookline’s speedster, could not catch the explosive Lezama.

During the second half Milton wasn’t able to get the momentum of the first half working for them. The Warriors option quarterback, Nick Scott, was all over the field scoring two TD’s on a 51 and 20 yard run giving Brookline the win 21-13.
Milton’s Antonio Houston made several key first down runs giving the Wildcats some breathing room during the game. One of the crowd pleasing moments of the game was when the Wildcats were at the 18 yard line and it was fourth down.

Coach Jim Bowes then dug into his fake playbook. Joe Kennedy was in position to kick when the ball was sent to Pat Miller instead. Miller then scampered for about 20 yards giving the Wildcats a first down. Momentum was with the Wildcats, but ended when the ball was turned over after the next series of downs.
Next up for the Wildcats as the season begins to wind down is at Norwood on November 5. Start time is 2 p.m.
