Hoosic Club, Milton, June 22, 2011 - Dr. John Drottar’s recent retirement party was held at the Hoosic Club and attended by his adoring staff of teachers, secretaries, friends and family. The event was emceed by Vice Principals Alan Cron and Yolanda Beech and coordinated by a body of volunteers.
Milton teacher Brian Borde brought some humor to the event by first saying, “Firstly I would like to thank Dr. Drotter for hiring me.” He continued with a hilarious “bucket routine” as he pulled various items from a Home Depot bucket that were donated by the staff and department heads. One item included a pair of gym shorts, size small, donated by Track Coach Dale Snyder. Borde concluded on a serious note with a tribute to a man who was always there, who would take time out of his busy schedule to talk and advise anyone who needed it.
Superintendent Mary Gormley ended the evening’s tributes with her own personal appreciation to a man she so admired for what he has given to Milton High School.

Dr. Drottar is a sincere towering man in both size and stature and gave a hug or handshake that was always from his heart. He truly made a difference to Milton High School, his students, and staff and the Town of Milton will surely miss him.
If you remember or saw the movie “Good-bye Mr. Chips” you would certainly compare it to the standing ovation Dr. Drottar received at the 2011 graduation ceremony. So, Good-Bye Mr. Chips and enjoy your golden years, but do come back once in awhile.
