Milton 350th Anniversary Lecture Series
Anthony Sammarco will present a lecture called "Milton: From Town to Suburb" on May 14 at the Milton Public Library.

The Milton 350th Anniversary Lecture Series continues on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the Keys Community Room, . Noted local historian Anthony Sammarco will present his second lecture in honor of the Town of Milton, incorporated on June 10, 1662.
The topic of the lecture is "Milton: From Town to Suburb" and deals with the growth of Milton as a farming town with industry in Milton Village and Railway Village (East Milton) in the nineteenth century, to the beginnings of suburbia with Boston families maintaining "in between" houses that were used in the Spring and the Fall.
Following the Great Depression, as estates were sold and subdivided, new neighborhoods were created with attractive Colonial-style houses being built.

Sammarco, who teaches at Boston University, is the author of numerous books about Milton and has lectured widely on local history. He is known for his enthusiastic and witty style. The Milton 350th Historic Committee encourages all citizens – young and old – to come and help celebrate Milton’s birthday and enjoy this gifted speaker.
