Milton High Football Falls to Natick 49-0

Milton v Natick Football 9.23.11

Last year the Red and Blue of Natick came to Milton in the pouring rain and they returned the favor this year with another rainy night at Memorial Field, Natick.

Friday's game marked the first to be played on Natick's new beautiful football field. Prior to the game starting a fitting tribute was made to all of the 9/11 victims and survivors. Natick’s Fire Department Honor Guard stood at attention as a flag was raised on the field that a few days earlier had flown over the Twin Towers site in New York.

The continuing downpour throughout the game was the most trouble to the Wildcats who fumbled several times. The Natick team (2-1), led by quarterback Troy Flutie, made for a discouraging night for Milton (0-3) winning the game 49-0.

The first quarter for the Wildcats was its best as the defense frustrated the Red and Blue offense and the Wildcats offense moved the ball against a tough Natick defense.

At the start of he second quarter Milton was in possession of the ball and moving what looked like a certain score when a fumble led to a touchdown by the Natick team. Frustration continued to mount for the Wildcats as the Red and Blue scored at will, adding 42 more points to Milton's 0.

The Milton defense pushed hard and kept Natick scoreless in the fourth quarter, but the offense was unable to score against Natick's persistent pressure.

Next up for the Milton Wildcats will be a home game against Walpole on Saturday, October 1 with a 2 p.m. kickoff.

Note: Milton's freshman team, coached by Chris Moore, has been impressive with a 3-0 record so far this season.
