Softball Team Squeezes Win from Framingham 1-0

Softball - Milton Wildcats v Framingham Flyers

Going into the top of the six inning the Lady Wildcats were holding onto a 1-0 lead over the Flyers of Framingham. Milton’s Sidney Fitzgerald was pitching a close game with two Flyers on base and one out. It was then that Coach RJ Maturo decided to bring in his ace pitcher Brenna Callahan to keep the Flyers off balance. Callahan did what she does best. The fast ball. She forced a fly ball easily caught by Juliana Cosetta and then struck out the next batter.

In the bottom of the six Milton was unable to score bringing up the Flyers and three outs away from a Milton win.

Callahan would strike out one batter and then Abby Macomber would make a clutch catch off a Flyers bunt. Callahan did the rest and struck out the next batter sealing the win for the Wildcats.

“Its very nice to come in help the team win - very nice,” said Milton pitcher Brenna Callahan.

“We did what we haven’t done all season - we played defense. In the late innings that catch that Abby (Macomber) made cutting across the field - good stuff. It was a tough decision to take out Sidney (Fitzgerald) after pitching five shut out innings. I felt they were catching on to her pitches.” said Coach Maturo.
