The Lady Wildcats Hold Back the Charging Lions
Girls Lacrosse, Milton v Newton South-May 16, 2011.
Milton, Mass- May 16, 2011, Brooks Field. As today’s game was winding down the Lady Wildcats were trying to hold off the charging Newton South Lions who were clawing at the cage of Milton’s goalie Emma Drew.
At halftime the Wildcats were comfortably ahead 5-1 and only needed to control the ball in the second half. The rain started to pour and the Lions fired 5 goals into the Milton cage to Milton’s 2 goals. The Lions were within one goal of tying the game with a little over 2 minutes left to play with the score at 7-6 in favor of the Wildcats.
But in the end Milton’s Emily Huban would jam a Newton South player as she tried frantically to break free. The buzzer would sound and the Wildcats came home with the win 7-6 over Newton South. Milton Captain Kate Phelan would lead the Wildcats in scoring with 4 goals.
