Tweeting Milton Style
Twitter has opened up a new and exciting way for people to socialize and keep in touch. Here are a few sample tweets about Milton to give you an idea of how it works.
"A tweet is a post or status update on Twitter, a microblogging service. Because Twitter only allows messages of 140 characters or less, "tweet" is as much a play on the size of the message as it is on the audible similarity to Twitter." - Webtrends
Short and to the point messages are the foundation of Twitter. People tweet for all kinds of reasons: socializing, sharing an interest, business, and even teaching. The hash tag (#) is used in tweets to make the post searchable by subject. The "@" sign is like an address on Twitter. If you wanted to follow the Milton Patch on Twitter, you would search for @MiltonPatch.
So, since a lot of you may never open a Twitter account or compose your own tweet, I decided to bring tweeting to you, via my blog. The following fifteen sample tweets are about our favorite town. Remember the rules, a tweet must be 140 characters or less. The hash tag tags a word and makes it searchable as a subject. Tweets don't have to be cryptic. Trying to cram too much into a tweet can make your message difficult to deciher. Enjoy!
