DCR Expands Swimming Season at Houghton’s Pond

With warm temperatures expected, the DCR will staff lifeguards at Houghton's Pond and other swimming areas through Labor Day.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has expanded the season for and other swimming areas across the commonwealth past the scheduled closure dates.

Lifeguards will stay on duty at Houghton’s Pond beach in the Blue Hills Recreation Area through Labor Day, Monday, September 3.

“DCR takes great pride in providing the public with quality recreational opportunities at our many waterfronts and pools,” said DCR Commissioner Ed Lambert, via a press release. “We hope everyone stays cool and safe and enjoys these final warm days of the 2012 summer season at one of our fabulous DCR facilities.”
