The first film in the library's monthly "classic movies" series is Casablanca. Your host Jeff Stoodt will offer a trivia quiz and award prizes at 6:15, before the film begins at 6:30.
Casablanca (1942) is directed by Michael Curtiz and it is a great World War II classic. In war-torn Moroco, elusive nightclub owner (Humphrey Bogart) meets his old love (Ingrid Bergman) and her husband (Paul Henried), an underground leader. The encounter leads to unforseen complications. Claude Rains is marvelous as the dapper police chief, and nobody sings "As Time Goes By" like Dooley Wilson. Three Oscars - Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay - make Casablanca our candidate for best Hollywood movie of all time.
