Fifth Annual Bike Race Comes to Blue Hills Sunday
Over 200 cyclists will take on a challenging seven mile bike race through the Blue Hills Reservation on Sunday morning.
The Blue Hills will be buzzing with activity on Sunday, May 1 as over 200 cyclists take to the streets for the Fifth Annual Blue Hills Classic, hosted by the Blue Hills Cycling Club and 545 Velo, a Newton-based racing club.
The US Cycling certified bike race, which marks the start of National Bike Month, will take riders on a challenging seven-mile course through the Blue Hills and Milton. The route starts near Houghton's Pond, follows Hillside Street to Route 138, down Canton Avenue, and back to the start along Unquity Road.
The different races will be staggered throughout the morning, beginning at 8 a.m. and wrapping up around 11 a.m. According to the Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee, the times were selected to minimize traffic. Police will enforce rolling road closures to protect the riders.
