Going Green With FAVA Summer Arts Camp
In week two of the summer camp at Pierce Middle School, students created art inspired the earth that was also friendly to the environment.
The FAVA Arts and Crafts Camp theme for the week of July 12 to 16 was Green Art. Students discovered ways of making art while being kind to the earth including, paper making using junk mail and natural materials, paper mache and printing using vegetables.
Materials used in the class, which was taught by FAVA instructors Janet Gilmore and Karen Hainline, were recycled from local businesses and industries.
Over the week, students leaned about current environmental artists, including Andy Goldsworthy Agnes Denes and Chris Jordan.
