Two workers and an officer were overcome by fumes this afternoon in a Milton home. HazMat is on the scene.
Two men were working in a house at 57 St. Mary's Road earlier today using Strip-Ease to take off paint in a basement room. Just before noon police received a call from the homeowner, after one of the workers was overcome by a yet to be identified fume. Officials are still determing the cause.
A second worker in the home, as well as a police officer who reported to the scene, were also not feeling well and were taken by ambulance.
At the scene, Deputy Police Chief Charles Paris said, "HazMat is on the way just to clear the building and see what it is." He said they wanted to rule out that the Strip-Ease may have caused the problem before letting anyone back into the house.

When asked if it could be something else, Paris said it could be carbon monoxide, but they still don't know the exact cause.
About 1 p.m. the Fire Department went door to door to neighboring homes advising residents of the situation. Residents were encouraged to leave their properties while the home in question was being vented.
HazMat is currently on the scene and entering the house.
