How Milton Plans To Celebrate Graduating Seniors

The town hopes public displays of support will help graduates enjoy their moment despite the disappointment of coronavirus restrictions.

MILTON, MA — While Milton High School graduating seniors will not have the chance to walk across the stage and accept their diplomas in front of their friends and families — as generations of Wildcats have done before them — this June, the town is working on some ways to help celebrate the class of 2020 amid the coronavirus health crisis.

Milton will hold a "Clap Them Out" day on June 7, which is graduation day, at 7:20 p.m. The town is asking that residents stand in front of their homes — practicing social distancing — and cheer for 20 seconds in honor of the class of 2020.

Milton also has an "Adopt a Milton 2020 Senior" program in which residents can celebrate a senior's accomplishments with a letter, card, gift card, snack — anything to let them know their accomplishment is not being overlooked during these restrictive times. Those interested in adopting a senior can join this Facebook page to find one. Those without a Facebook account can ask a friend to create a post on Facebook, or email Annellen Lydon at lydonaev@gmail.com.

While this will not be the graduation season that seniors wanted — or anyone in town wanted for them — residents can do their small part to make it as memorable as possible.
