Logan 33L Flight Path Changes Review Period Extended

The new proposed flight path that would send planes from Logan Airport directly over Milton has been delayed.

Sen. Bryan A. Joyce, a Democrat who represents Milton, said in an emailed statement Tuesday the Federal Aviation Administration has extended the review period for flight path changes at runway 33L from six months to one year.

The review period’s start date was June 5, 2013, so instead of ending in December, it will now go to the following June, according to Jack Cardinal, a spokesman for Joyce.

“The extension will allow for the runway to be monitored in the busiest time of the year, the winter, when wind patterns often steer more departures to the runway and over the town of Milton,” the statement says. 

The changes have caused a stir in Milton since they were proposed two years ago.
