Quincy Man to be Arraigned Tomorrow for Shooting Milton Firefighter

A member of a prominent Quincy family was indicted by a Norfolk County Grand Jury yesterday and faces arraignment tomorrow

The Quincy man who allegedly shot an off-duty Milton Firefighter in December was indicted by a Norfolk County Grand Jury yesterday.

Robert O'Connell, 40, will be arraigned Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Norfolk Superior Court on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

The armed assault charge carries a penalty of up to 20 years in State Prison. The assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge carries a penalty of 15 years.

Assistant District Attorney Brian Wilson will be handling the case.

O'Connell was arrested a few days after a December 12, 2009 shooting that left 30-year-old Milton Firefighter, Joseph Fasano, with life-threatening injuries. Fasano was shot in the abdomen near the intersection of Hancock Street and Commander Shea Boulevard in Quincy, after an alleged road rage confrontation.

O'Connell is the son of Quincy developer Peter O'Connell, who among other projects, developed Marina Bay where Robert currently resides.

O'Connell is currently free on $500,000 cash bail.
