Riverside Theatre Works to Hold Auditions for the Musical Theatre Classic, Guys & Dolls

Local performers sought for musical theatre production!

Riverside Theatre Works will hold auditions for the Tony-award-winning classic, Guys & Dolls, on Sunday, January 17 and Monday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m.

Set in a mythical New York City, Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town. While his girlfriend, Adelaide, laments their 14-year engagement, Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough. Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City.

Guys & Dolls took Broadway by storm in 1950, winning the Tony for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The musical is based on stories by Damon Runyon and features larger-than-life characters and musical theatre standards, such as “Luck Be a Lady,” “Fugue for Tin Horns” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.”

Riverside’s production will be directed and choreographed by P.J. Terranova. The Musical Director is Jenny Tsai. Performances are May 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8:00 p.m. and May 15 and 22 at 3:00 p.m.

Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show and bring a resume and a photo. Auditions are by appointment. Interested performers should contact Riverside Theatre Works at 617-361-7024 to schedule an audition time slot.
