Suspected Arsonist Set Fire on Pope's Pond Bridge

The Milton Fire Department is investigating a suspected arson fire that was lit early Sunday morning.

According to the fire report, a small fire on Pope's Pond Bridge, a foot bridge near the pond, was reported at 4:40 a.m. Sunday to the Blue Hill Station. Engine 4 responded to the scene, entering on Lafayette Road. There, they discovered and extinguished a small fire on the bridge.

The report did not specify any structural damage to the bridge, but the Department of Public Works was notified. The fire, which the department is calling suspicious, is under investigation.
