Weekend Storms Cause Fire, Downed Power Lines
Lightning caused a house fire on Saturday and high winds knocked out power lines on Sunday.
This weekend's storms resulted in several incidents, including lightening causing a three-alarm fire and a downed power line.
At 4:01 a.m. June 5, the Milton Fire Department responded to a fire on the third floor of a home on Augusta Road, said Fire Chief John Grant. The fire began when lightening struck an abandon vent stack on the roof.
The family was on vacation on Cape Cod at the time of the blaze according to Grant.

The damage, which totals close to $200,000, includes fire damage to the roof and third floor as well as smoke and water damage to the remainder of the home. The residence is not currently livable.
Following the fire, three Milton Firefighters were treated and released at Milton Hospital. Two of the firefighters were treated for heat-related injuries and Grant expects them to return for their next tour of duty. The third firefighter was also treated and released after suffering knee and shoulder injuries. Grant did not know the details of the injury, but expects the firefighter to miss some time on the job.
