Relying on precision stick-to-stick passing, the Newton North girls lacrosse team reeled off a series of unanswered goals en route to a 13-6 victory over Bay State Conference-foe, , Tuesday afternoon at Dickerson Field.
“They moved the ball fairly well, ran some plays, they kept cutting and moving,” Tigers head coach Kim Hamilton commented about her team. “It was a good game. We work on trying to keep position, holding onto [the ball].”
The triumph improves the Tigers’ record to 4-1 in the league and 7-1 overall. The Wildcats, meanwhile, slip to 2-4 in the league (3-5 overall).

“Newton North is a fast team,” said Milton head coach Caitlin Finn. “I have to give it to them. They’re a very good team.”
But it was Milton that drew blood first as Wildcat sophomore Olivia Phelan cut in front of the net and fired the ball past Tiger goalie Casey Bryson at the 23:03 mark.

That only served to ignite a fire underneath the Tigers, though, as they would tally an astounding 13 straight goals.
Hannah McGoldrick began the scoring streak at 19:42, and she was followed less than one minute later by a Michela Salvucci tally. Salvucci, a junior attacker, ended the game with four goals.
Continuing to constantly possess the ball, the Tigers negated any offensive chances from the Wildcats while compiling one goal upon another. And at the 3:50 mark of the first half, Kayla Farina netted a goal to augment the Tigers lead to 8-1. Farina would join her teammate with four goals by the end of the contest.
“I’m really happy with the possession game they played,” said Hamilton. “It was good.”
The Tigers would amass a 13-1 advantage before the Wildcats mounted a mini-comeback near the end of the game.
“We came back a little bit with five minutes left, came up with five goals, but it was a little too late,” said Finn. “Hopefully, we can turn it around.”
