Century Health Systems and Natick VNA Collaborate with Natick Council on Aging on Aging Mastery Program
Presentation topics will include "Balance Matters: A Falls Prevention Presentation"; "Medication Management"; and "Healthy Relationships."
Natick, Mass. – (October 6, 2015) – Century Health Systems, parent company of Natick Visiting Nurse Association and Distinguished Care Options, will present a series of talks at the Natick Community-Senior Center as part of the COA’s Aging Mastery Program, which is made possible through the generosity of MetroWest Medical Center. Presentation topics will include “Balance Matters: A Falls Prevention Presentation”; “Medication Management”; and “Healthy Relationships.”
Aging Mastery is a program of the National Council on Aging and “aims to help millions of older adults take key steps to improve their well-being and add stability to their lives,” according to the NCOA’s website.
Deb Hershon, RN, Distinguished Care Options Executive Director and Care Transitions Coordinator, and Tricia St. Martin, RN, Care Transitions Coordinator, will present “Medication Management” on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2pm. They will address the various responsibilities of managing a loved one’s medications; why keeping track of one’s medications is important; provide an overview of strategies that can help someone manage medications; suggest discussion topics for your loved one’s doctor visits; and more.

Natick VNA Physical Therapist Margie Anderson will present “Balance Matters,” which will address what balance is; what the risk factors are for falls and how to minimize them; home safety; and exercises to improve balance. The presentation will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 2pm.
Health educator and licensed EMT Juanita Allen Kingsley will present “Healthy Relationships” on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2pm. In her presentation, Kingsley will address the importance of healthy relationships in our lives and learn ways to create and maintain them. Some of the topics to be reviewed include the risks of social isolation; ways to keep connections strong and build new connections; how to discern healthy from unhealthy relationships; the role of assertiveness in relationships; and more.
