Design Hearing: Discuss the proposed Cochituate Rail Trail Project

Become fully acquainted, and ask questions about the proposed Cochituate Rail Trail (CRT) Project for Natick and Framingham.

NATICK, MA — A construction of a 12-foot-wide multi use path along 2.4 miles of the former CSX Right of Way is being proposed. It also includes a grade separated crossing at Route 30, as well as replacement of the CSX bridge over Route 9. Called the Cochituate Rail Trail Project, the MassDOT is holding a design public hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilson Middle School in Natick.

The meeting gives the public a chance to learn about the proposed trail, and also ask questions. "All views and comments made at the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible," said the announcement.

The trail, which will be off-road with four at-grade roadway and two driveway crossing, also includes a spur line connecting to the Natick Mall at Speen Street. At the northerly end, a grade separated crossing of Route 30 will be constructed to provide the connection to the Framingham section of the CRT. At its southerly end, the CRT will connect to North Main Street (Route 27) through Willow Street.
