Girl Misses Friends, Family, in Boston: Go Ask Wally
This week, Wally helps a girl who moved to New York two years ago and still misses her former home.

NATICK, MA - He’s a bonafide Internet sensation, and probably the biggest bunny celebrity to hit social media. Wally the Bunny has 217,000 followers on Instagram, and he’s been featured in numerous media outlets, including People Magazine, CNN, Good Morning America and the Boston Globe.
Now, Wally (and Molly) assist and entertain Patch readers each week with the advice column “Go Ask Wally.” Each week, we’ll field questions from readers, and pick the most interesting one, with Wally answering one question each week on Natick Patch.
QUESTION: Can you try to give me some advice? I lived in Boston for six years and when I was six I moved to New York City. I have lived here for more than two years and still miss my family, friends, school, and home. Sometimes I feel sick. What should I do?

ANSWER: Hi, Third Grader! It’s ME, Wally! What a big loss you have experienced! When the people and things and places that make us who we are vanish from our lives, we feel strange and different! When Molly gives me snippies (a haircut), I feel so bare – more like a baby seal than a bunny! I miss my woolies! But when I catch a glimpse of my newly styled paws in the mirror, I remember how stunning my “jazz hands” look after a fresh trim! So while I miss my thick wool coat, I also welcome my beautiful jazz paws. The absence of your Boston life, Third Grader, has left room for something new and special!
But remember! Boston is, and will continue to be, a very important part of who you are. Your “Boston Powers” will help you to embrace your life in New York. I know what you’re thinking: “Boston Powers?!” Why, yes! These are your happy Boston memories and your Boston family and friends. They are all the things you learned from Boston and all the ways that Boston helped to make you who you are. Your Boston spirit is a great source of strength. If you need inspiration to activate your powers, start a memory journal, create a scrapbook, or decorate your wall with photos and magazine pictures that remind you of Boston. Imagine you are writing a “thank you” and/or “I miss you” letter to Boston – what would you say?

Perhaps most importantly, Third Grader, express your feelings to people you trust! Sometimes we are frightened to talk about our feelings. But when we ignore them, they entertain themselves by tangling up into knots – like unbrushed hair! If not properly unraveled, emotions can make our bellies, heads, and hearts sick! Feelings need attention! So talk about them. No feeling is ever wrong!
Sometimes when we move or experience big changes, we feel desolate and empty – like a blank coloring page. In Boston, you were all colored in with the boldest of hues! Now, you must color yourself in again. New York is alive with crayons! They will be different than your Boston colors, but equally as exquisite.
Wally (and his mom) fields questions that range from life’s conflicts and local politics to social etiquette to general hygiene and fashion tips. If Wally thinks the question is beyond his scope of expertise, he will pass it to his administrative team.
So what say you? Have you a question for Wally? We will compile them here at Patch and feature one question and answer each week. Send your questions to charlene.arsenault@patch.com. Or post your query in the comments section.
