The 2016 Rally for Aly: What You Need to Know
Saturday morning, the Town of Needham will celebrate the achievements of Olympic gymnast Aly Rasiman.
NEEDHAM, MA — After winning three medals in Rio, putting on one of the most impressive floor exercise routines seen, and building one of the best resumes in Olympic gymnastics history, Aly Raisman is coming home!
Saturday morning, the Town of Needham will hold the Rally for Aly to honor the achievements of their hometown hero and six-time Olympic medalist. Defying expectations and age, Raisman returned to the world’s grandest stage for sports and walked away with a gold medal and two silvers.
Support Services Manager Sandy Cincotta says this year’s rally won’t be like the 2012 event and is even promising some fan interaction. To help you get ready for Raisman’s homecoming, here’s what you need to know.

The event will start at 11 a.m. and will run for approximately an hour. The stairs of Town Hall will serve as the stage and the common as the audience. Chapel Street will be closed for the event for overflow capacity.
The Format
If you went to the 2012 rally, don’t expect the same event. There will be no parade or speeches from politicians, just Raisman talking to the crowd. Once Raisman arrives by firetruck, she will open with her remarks, followed by a question and answer session with Needhan native and 98.5 Sports Hub personality Mike Riley, and more questions from the audience.
Street Closures and Parking
Chapel Street will be the only road closure during the event and parking will be allowed in the downtown area.
