Lauren Ambrose Returns to Needham for an Intimate Evening of Songs and Stories

Tony, Emmy and Grammy-Nominated Actor and Singer Opens the Great Hall Concert Series with a One-Night-Only Performance

Acclaimed actor and singer Lauren Ambrose will open the 13th season of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series with a special, one-night-only evening of music and storytelling at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, at Needham Town Hall.

Joined by Grammy-nominated pianist, singer and songwriter Matt Cusson, Ambrose is creating an intimate evening of songs, stories and special guests exclusively for the Great Hall audience.

A Tony, Emmy and Grammy nominee, Ambrose is known for her work across theater, television and film, from her Tony-nominated performance as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady to her Emmy-nominated role in Six Feet Under, as well as Yellowjackets, Buried Child, Awake and Sing!, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Exit the King.

Ambrose has built a career moving fluidly between music, theater, television and film. Her connection to Needham is also a personal one: her husband, filmmaker Sam Handel, is a Needham native, and the community has long been part of her family's life.

“Lauren has been on our wish list for years, and we are thrilled that she is joining us to open our 13th season,” said Michael Greis, co-president of the Great Hall Concert Foundation. “This will be a truly special evening — an intimate performance created specifically for our audience, bringing together Lauren’s extraordinary gifts as both an actor and a singer, alongside Matt Cusson and some special guests.”

The Great Hall Concert Series season will also feature Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone (November 2026), Seraph Brass (March 2027), and Adrian Galante (May 2027). For information about purchasing subscriptions, available on a no-added-fee basis until September 19, or individual concert tickets, go to greathallperformance.org or call 781-355-6076.
