Drug Possession, Larceny: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

February 24

4:30 p.m., an Eaton Road resident entered the police station to report a larceny from his residence. The reported item was a silver set which the owner believes was taken sometime between July of 2014 and November of 2015, during construction at his residence. The incident is under investigation.

1:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to Webster Bank on Highland Avenue for a report of a male party attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Following an investigation, Mohammad Mutan, a 22-year-old Virginia resident, was taken into custody and charged with check forgery, uttering a false check and attempted larceny by check.

5:14 p.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of Highland Avenue and Webster Street As a result of the stop the operator, Derek Cavanaugh of Westport, was taken into custody for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of a Class B and E substances, and possession of less than an ounce of Marijuana.
